International research conducted by the OECD found that, in the six years of the study, not once did they come across ‘a school improving its student achievement record in the absence of talented leadership’.
Our Purpose
We started working on The Flourish Movement in 2016. Since then, we have worked with over 1150 school leaders across the country. Our research shows that this is one of the most complex, challenging and daunting roles we have come across in 25 years of research.
In Flourish, our purpose is to help school leaders develop sustainable leadership practices, making them highly effective, highly engaged leaders who love their role, all the while having great personal wellbeing. Better leaders help build better schools.

Sustainable Leadership Practices

Why Focus on Sustainable Leadership Practices?
Often school leaders work in a way that meet the needs of others (open door policy and first to arrive and last to leave, completing tasks that can be delegated, etc) but leaves them with not enough time to get to the big things they want to achieve for their schools.
This role is a vocation for them, one of service. However, this mindset and associated habits can lead to unsustainable leadership practices that become detrimental to their leadership, wellbeing and the performance of their school.
